Job summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Rotating Equipment Engineer to maintain safe operation and reliability of refinery rotating equipment. The role applies established engineering principles to solve problems arising during operation, maintenance, and turnarounds while conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.

Responsibilities include supporting maintenance and operations, participating in hazard studies, promoting reliability, and using vibration data to predict failures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Civil) or related field.
• 4+ years refinery or petrochemical plant experience with rotating equipment; 10+ years preferred.
• Experience with pumps, motors, turbines and compressors.
• SAP, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations; familiarity with the internet.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain TWIC.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to maintenance & operations to increase rotating equipment availability and reduce maintenance costs.
• Apply standard engineering principles, troubleshooting and scope development to rotating equipment problems.
• Participate in Hazop studies and drive action items to resolution.
• Champion reliability of rotating equipment across the assigned area.
• Utilize vibration and process data to troubleshoot and predict failures.
• Establish guidelines for and monitor preventative maintenance programs.
• Support turnarounds and startup activities for rotating equipment systems.
• Contribute to repair scopes and capital project input for rotating equipment.
• Identify and implement improvements to increase availability and reduce costs.
