Job summary

TPC Group is seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer to lead long‑term strategies for pumps, turbines, compressors, and valve systems in our Houston plants. You will drive reliability through advanced vibration analysis, FMEA, and life‑cycle decisions, collaborating with operations and maintenance on upgrades and rerates.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor KPI’s and reliability metrics; guide spare parts strategy.
  • Support capital projects with rotating equipment expertise in design and construction.
  • Document savings from reliability improvements and upgrades.

Education

10+ years rotating equipment experience in petrochemical industry

Job description

  • Develop long term strategies for plant rotating equipment including pumps, turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, hydraulic valve systems.
  • Build asset maintenance strategies and maintain ITPM plans per RAGAGEP
  • Update and maintain engineering specifications for rotating equipment
  • Analyze possible rerates and upgrades to improve through put and reliability of critical equipment trains.
  • Provide recommended upgrades for critical equipment such as GE Frame 5, Turbo Generator and critical positive displacement compressors
  • Apply life cycle value analysis on repair/replace decisions
  • Provide guidance in equipment criticality with establishment of spare part strategies
  • Provide input to maintenance on repairs of rotating equipment.
  • Lead troubleshooting with operations, process engineering and other functional engineers for machinery
  • Ability to complete equipment performance testing to predicted curves
  • Deliver TA recommendations and planning input for critical machinery
  • Support capital projects by providing expertise in the area of rotating equipment in design reviews and construction
  • Document savings benefits of implemented reliability improvement modifications and upgrades.
  • Lead commercial partnerships with key suppliers and vendors (i.e. – Seals contract)
  • Provide input to reliability improvement teams and conduct FMEA studies to improve onstream availability.
  • Document root causes of rotating equipment failures
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and metrics for proactive identification and resolution of reliability issues.
  • Participate in the management of change process
  • Ability to interact with other departments to complete daily assignments.
  • Personal attitude and behavior that promotes a safe work environmen
Required Qualifications:
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in rotating equipment in petrochemical industry.
  • Vibration certification or 7+ yrs of experience in vibrational analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in AMS Machinery Health and Bently Nevada monitoring systems
  • Lubrication knowledge or certification
  • Understanding of basic industry standards, recommended practices and/or regulatory conditions/considerations for rotating equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of reliability-centered maintenance practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of RAGAGEP engineering practices and principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of predictive technologies, such as vibration analysis, infrared thermograph, lubrication analysis, ultrasound, etc.
  • Maximo basic knowledge or alternate computerized maintenance management system (SAP)
