Job summary

Horizons Mental Health Center is offering a Student-Intern internship for master’s level therapy students. The program provides opportunities in counseling, behavioral health, and human services with supervision and a varied benefits package.

The intern will support outpatient therapy across individual, family, and group modalities, under university guidance and placement supervision. A commitment to trauma-informed care and culturally responsive practice is expected.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a master’s level therapy program.
• Internship hours must be fulfilled under supervision of an accredited program.
• Experience with varied populations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient behavioral health treatment under supervision (individual, family, group).
• Develop and implement treatment plans reflecting consumer needs.
• Complete intakes, diagnoses, and mental status exams at intervals.
• Deliver medically necessary treatment and determine level of care.
• Assist in crisis assessment and safety planning.
• Collaborate with consumers, families, and care teams on planning.
• Engage with different departments to learn services offered.
• Document services timely and accurately.
• Attend supervision weekly and maintain contact between sessions.
• Pursue ongoing therapy skill development and evidence-based practices.
