BJC HealthCare is hiring an Inpatient Coder I to assign diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient encounters, following regulatory guidelines. This is an entry-level role with required certifications (CCS, CCA, RHIA, RHIT). Remote eligible states are listed; on-site presence may be required in some locations.

Competenze

• Education High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience No Experience required.
• Licenses & Certifications CCS or CCA or RHIA or RHIT is required.

Mansioni

• Accurately abstracts data elements as required for inpatient encounters.
• Stays current of coding conventions, regulatory guidelines, and code updates.
• Reviews and analyzes patient encounters for compliant coding.
• Queries providers for clarification or additional information as needed.
• Assigns codes in a timely manner for inpatient stays.
• Interprets provider documentation to determine DRG assignment.
• Collaborates with CDI, HIM Operations and other departments to ensure record integrity and coding compliance.
