Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Clinical Coding Quality professional to support accurate and compliant professional and hospital coding practices. The role involves developing coding guidance, coordinating audits, and collaborating with clinicians to improve documentation quality.

Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC credentials, 5 years of coding experience, and strong knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines. Remote work may be approved for eligible states.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education and experience required.
• Certification from AHIMA or AAPC such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC is required.
• 5 years of expert-level professional or hospital-based coding experience; revenue cycle knowledge.
• Proficient with ICD, CPT, HCPCS guidelines and medical terminology.
• Experience with remote workforce operations is required.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply coding, payer, and regulatory requirements to support accurate and compliant professional and hospital coding.
• Develop and maintain coding guidance, standard work, and reference materials for enterprise consistency.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits, verify documentation completeness and accuracy.
• Track audit findings and compliance risks, document patterns and corrective actions.
• Analyze coding quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare summaries and reports for leadership and quality initiatives.
• Partner with Integrity Operations and clinicians to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy.
• Support regulatory and quality projects and ensure adherence to AHIMA standards.
• Respond to internal inquiries related to coding guidance and audit outcomes.
• Support testing and workflow updates related to coding quality initiatives.
