Job summary

Purple Wave Auction is seeking a Database Engineering Manager to lead our database function and set architectural direction for high-performance, reliable systems. This hands-on leadership role manages the DBA team and partners with IT Infrastructure, Operations, and Product Engineering to implement best practices in disaster recovery, clustering, replication, and encryption.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 10+ years in Database Architect/DBA with ownership of architecture.
• 5+ years leading a database administration or technical team.
• Expertise in MariaDB replication, clustering, and maxscale.
• Strong SQL, data modeling, and encryption knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the database administration team.
• Design and maintain high availability, scalability, and performance.
• Oversee disaster recovery, replication, and encryption strategies.
• Collaborate with product engineering to optimize queries and access.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure data integrity and security.
• Document architecture, processes, and procedures.
