Job summary

Excellus BCBS is seeking a Manager of Data Platform Administration to lead the team in planning, design, and maintenance of data systems. You will work with users to understand needs, enforce standards, and drive high-quality deliverables across the development lifecycle.

The role requires strong leadership, advanced database and systems-analysis expertise, and experience mentoring staff. Occasional remote work may be considered on a case-by-case basis within the health plan region.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or relevant field; six years of experience if no degree.
• Advanced expertise in database design and production systems.
• Advanced expertise in structured systems analysis and design.
• Experience supervising or managing people and/or projects.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent project planning and management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and control activities across the systems lifecycle.
• Consult with sponsors and users to clarify intent and options.
• Estimate staffing costs and time; manage resources and schedules.
• Review major deliverables and ensure required walkthroughs.
• Coordinate with data center management for issues and efficient resource use.
• Mentor Data Platform Administration professionals.
• Maintain budgets and operating costs within guidelines.
• Ensure privacy, compliance and adherence to policies.
• Conduct staff meetings and communicate ethics/compliance information.
