Job summary

Excellus BCBS is seeking a Manager of Data Platform Administration to lead a cross-functional team responsible for Databricks, Cognos, Power BI and SAS workloads. The role focuses on planning, design, development and maintenance of data systems while upholding standards and security.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets, and partner with executives to align data initiatives with business goals. Exceptional communication across levels is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or relevant field (or 6 years experience in lieu).
• Advanced expertise in database design, development, testing and maintenance for production systems.
• Advanced systems analysis and design, data gathering and MIS knowledge.
• Experience supervising or managing people or projects.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent project planning and communication across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and controls activities across the systems lifecycle.
• Reviews requests with sponsors, clarifies intent and discusses solutions.
• Estimates staffing, costs and time; uses project tools for progress tracking.
• Reviews major deliverables and ensures walk-throughs with users.
• Communicates with data center management for resource utilization and issues.
• Assists in developing corporate information systems models and development sequencing.
• Mentors Data Platform Administration professionals.
