Job summary

Google is seeking a Data Center Services Mechanical Engineer Metro Lead in Kansas to act as the primary on-site technical authority for complex cooling infrastructures essential for high-availability environments. You will bridge high-level thermal designs with site execution, ensuring reliability and efficiency while guiding field contractors and Engineers of Record.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with thermal topology including evaporative and non-evaporative cooling topologies.
5 years of experience with piping and fluid dynamics, including chilled water systems and pumping.
5 years of experience in mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

Act as the definitive on-site technical resource for mechanical contractors and Engineers of Record (EORs) to maintain construction momentum.
Lead periodic site walk-throughs to verify installations meet specifications, including pressure testing and insulation integrity.
Ensure evaporative and non-evaporative cooling systems meet standards while managing site thermal performance.
Lead field-side RFI processes to resolve conflicts and provide immediate engineering solutions with cross-functional teams.
