Job summary

NEI Electric Power Engineering seeks an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join the Renewable Studies group. You will perform engineering analyses under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and coordinate with an integrated design team to meet schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities include modeling power systems for solar, wind, and storage projects, and applying codes and standards. This role offers a remote-friendly arrangement as well as Lakewood on-site work options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution (electric power option preferred).
• 0–1 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• FE is preferred but not required.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Strong written and oral communications skills.
• Good interpersonal and people skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn to prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility-scale solar, wind, BESS power plants and substations including short circuit, load flow, pre-energization harmonics, relay protection philosophy / relay settings, arc flash and other related studies.
• Manage timely execution of assigned tasks and proactively communicate with your supervisor if workload exceeds capacity or capability.
• Coordinate with design teams to correctly model evolving design through a project design cycle; considers all physical aspects affecting electrical adequacy and reliability.
• Review equipment data sheets, manuals, and testing reports for design and approvals.
• Maintain professional understanding of applicable Codes and Standards and typical design/construction practices that may impact study results.
• Maintain strong relationships with Company-Client communications for specific assignments and meetings.
