Job summary

ABB is seeking a field engineer to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical distribution equipment across the Indianapolis area with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability. This remote-capable role requires coordinating with customers, scheduling materials, and executing complex commissioning tasks.

You will travel up to 75% of the time, supporting startup, testing, and preventive maintenance on LV/MV systems, transformers, switchgear, and related Power Delivery equipment,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, preference for Electrical or Mechanical (or equivalent with related experience).
• 2 years of field engineering experience or equivalent (military service preferred).
• Ability to travel approximately 75% and maintain valid passport and driver's license.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Experience with power distribution equipment and testing (LV/MV breakers, switchgear, relays, transformers) preferred.
• Candidates must have work authorization to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers to schedule jobs and arrange materials, and complete safety analysis and paperwork before starting work.
• Follow ABB HSE standards and Safety Manual at all times.
• Hands-on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery equipment.
• Participate in outages with other field engineers, technicians, and contractors; prepare reports, quotations, and time/expense sheets.
