Job summary

ABB's Electrification Service Division is seeking a Field Service Engineer in the Indianapolis area. You will execute installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of power delivery equipment, with a focus on safety and customer interactions.

You will travel up to 75% across the region, work with a team of engineers and technicians, and report to the Service Manager. A Bachelor's degree in engineering and hands-on MV/LV experience are preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, preference for Electrical or Mechanical (OR High School Diploma / GED with and 4 additional years of related engineering / field / technical experience).
2 years of field engineering experience or equivalent such as military service preferred.
Require handing/moving of circuit breakers and other installed equipment in excess of several hundred pounds
Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% as required. Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license.
Knowledge of industrial customer base in geographical area preferred.
Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery to include Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays and Transformers preferred.
Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, Square D, Multilin relays, and Switzer Relays) preferred.
Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), controls systems and Programmable Logic controllers a plus.
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

Execute work to meet assigned objectives, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on electrical distribution equipment.
Collaborate with field engineers, technicians, and contractors on outages and site projects; perform administrative tasks and reporting.
Lead hands-on execution of projects (startup, commissioning, engineering, repair) for Power Delivery equipment including transformers, switchgear, breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, relays, and control systems.
Document work progress, order materials, secure quotations, and prepare job status reports for customers.
