Job summary

ABB Inc. is seeking a field service engineer to perform installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance on electrical distribution equipment across the Central US. The role supports the Electrification Service Division and involves remote work with significant travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities include coordinating with customers, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering technical reports. Travel up to ~75% and valid passport/driver's license are required, with opportunities to grow

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electrical/Mechanical preferred).
2 years of field engineering experience or equivalent military service.
Ability to hand/move circuit breakers and equipment weighing hundreds of pounds.
Willingness to travel ~75% and possess a valid passport and driver's license.
Knowledge of industrial customers in the geographical area preferred.
Technical experience with LV/MV breakers, switchgear, relays and transformers.
Experience with PLCs, controls systems, and MV synchronous machines is a plus.
US work authorization is required.

Perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on electrical distribution equipment.
Coordinate with customers to schedule jobs and material orders; perform safety analyses and paperwork.
Lead or assist with outages; coordinate with site engineers/management; write technical reports and manage time/expense sheets.
