Job summary

Koch Engineered Solutions, via DEPCOM Power, is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator – Repowering & Restoration to drive accurate estimates for retrofit, upgrade, repowering, and restoration projects in utility-scale renewable energy. The role supports proposals and collaborates with engineering, procurement and construction teams across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating electrical construction work for an electrical contractor, EPC, or similar.
• Experience estimating work on existing facilities where documentation may be incomplete.
• Knowledge of cost estimating best practices, methodologies, and estimating software tools.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs, labor modeling, productivity analysis, vendor quote evaluation, and contingency development.
• Effective communicator who can articulate estimate assumptions, exclusions, risks, and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering documentation, design packages, BOMs and specs to develop estimates for solar and BESS projects.
• Develop detailed bottoms-up cost estimates for labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, rentals, mobilization and other costs.
• Review as-built docs and perform quantity takeoffs for restoration and brownfield upgrades.
• Perform electrical takeoffs from design packages and field docs.
• Develop estimate assumptions, exclusions, allowances, escalation factors, and contingency strategies.
• Partner with project development, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate scope and risks.
• Develop and maintain material, equipment, labor, and productivity databases.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing for competitive cost models.
• Conduct site visits and collaborate with SMEs to assess conditions and scopes.
• Lead integration of actual project costs and lessons learned into estimating methodologies.
• Support proposal development, customer discussions, and internal estimate reviews.
