Job summary

Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical design and validation across major subsystems. You will translate requirements into robust designs, own schematics and BOMs, and drive reviews, testing, and troubleshooting while collaborating with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, support project planning, and stay current with power systems, microgrids, and renewable energy trends in a dynamic environment that values

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• 5+ years of industrial experience in electrical design or electromechanical systems.
• Experience with NEC, UL, and industry derating criteria.
• Experience with design documentation, reviews, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas.
• Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs.
• Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and bills of material.
• Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams.
• Mentor early‑career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards.
• Support project planning, effort estimation, and execution.
• Stay current with advancements in power systems, microgrids, renewable energy, and power conversion technologies.
• Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners.
• Contribute to projects that impact communities across North America.
