Job summary

Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems. You will translate requirements into robust electrical solutions, own schematics and BOMs, and drive design reviews with cross‑functional teams.

You will mentor early‑career engineers, stay current with power systems advancements, and collaborate with suppliers to deliver impact across North America. Remote work is supported with up to 20% travel in the USA.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering required.
• 5+ years in electrical design or electromechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution and system integration.
• Experience designing switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, and generators.
• Experience selecting and validating electrical components using NEC, UL, and industry derating criteria.
• Experience with design documentation, reviews, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% within the USA.
• NFPA 70E certification and UL standards knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas.
• Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs.
• Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and bills of material.
• Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams.
• Mentor early‑career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards.
• Support project planning, effort estimation, and execution.
• Stay current with advancements in power systems, microgrids, renewable energy, and power conversion technologies.
• Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners.
• Contribute to projects that impact communities across North America.
• Apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation.
