Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Evaluation & Management Medical Coder to deliver coding and auditing services to providers. The role emphasizes communication with physicians and their staff, with strong research and persistence in outreach.

The position is full-time with standard hours 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM CST and occasional overtime. Training is 4 weeks, virtual from home, with Telecommuting across the U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with professional coder certification (AHIMA/AAPC) maintained annually.
• 2+ years medical coding experience, including E/M coding.
• 2+ years of telephonic interaction with clinicians and provider staff.

Responsibilities

• Educate providers by phone/email on coding and documentation guidelines.
• Audit outpatient claims for coding accuracy, modifiers, and place of service.
• Provide written feedback per industry standards and health plan guidelines.
