Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Evaluation & Management Medical Coder. The role focuses on coding and auditing services for providers, translating diagnoses and procedures into codes. The ideal candidate has telecommunication experience and strong research skills to engage physicians and their staffs.

The position is full-time with 8:00 AM–4:00 PM CST hours and occasional overtime. Training is provided virtually from home, with telecommuting flexibility across the U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Professional coder certification (CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS) with AHIMA/AAPC credentialing.
• Medical coding or auditing experience in the past year.
• 2+ years of E/M coding experience.
• 2+ years interacting with physicians in medical settings.
• 2+ years of high-volume telephonic experience.
• 2+ years of experience with EMR systems.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work 8:00 AM–4:00 PM CST with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

• Educate providers by phone and email on coding and documentation guidelines.
• Deliver 80–90% provider educational outreach via phone/email; discuss with individuals/groups as needed.
• Audit outpatient claims for correct codes, modifiers, and units; provide written feedback.
