Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Evaluation & Management Medical Coder to provide coding and auditing services to providers. The role involves translating diagnoses and procedures into codes, with emphasis on communicating guidelines to provider offices. Training is provided virtually from home.

The position is full-time with standard hours 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM CST and occasional overtime. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is allowed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Professional coder certification (CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS) with credentialing from AHIMA and/or AAPC (maintained annually).
• 2+ years of medical coding experience, including E/M coding.
• 2+ years of telephonic interaction with physicians or provider staff.
• 2+ years of experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Educational outreach via phone and email to providers to communicate coding guidelines.
• Audit outpatient claims to validate services, assess coding accuracy, and identify potential unbundling.
• Provide written feedback based on industry standards and health plan guidelines.
