Job summary

Uniti Group Inc. is seeking an Engineer I to design and engineer DWDM systems, develop project plans and budgets, and create installation packages for field teams.

The role covers documentation, scope of work, and overall project management to keep projects on schedule and within budget. The position can be filled virtually anywhere in the country, offering a remote-friendly path while leveraging fiber-optic network expertise and strong technical writing abilities.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in fiber optic system engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good organization and documentation skills.
• Project management experience.
• Technical writing skills.
• Proficient with Excel, Visio, CAD, Word and Access.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Understanding of Metro Ethernet, Long-haul and local transport, troubleshooting, detailed method of procedures, and Ethernet networks/services.

Responsibilities

• Planning, scheduling, and reporting the progress of projects for which he/she is responsible.
• Work with fiber optic transmission equipment, remote terminals, alarming, synchronization, DC power, superstructure, and site layout.
• Fulfill expansion order activity for assigned projects, consistently manage and close tasks accurately and within required time frame.
• Create job packages which include technical instruction and method of procedures to provide to the installation group for installation of new equipment.
• Create and maintain inside plant site documentation.
• Report to the Staff Manager of Engineering.
