Job summary

Viasat is seeking a DWDM Optical Network Engineer to join our global communications team. You will design and architect the core network infrastructure to support the expanding satellite fleet, spanning from layer 1 to layer 3, with capacity planning and route design for fiber networks.

The role is site-based, requiring 60%+ in-office collaboration. Candidates should have a Bachelors or Masters in EE/CS/CE, 5+ years multi-vendor DWDM experience, and hands-on test equipment knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with multi-vendor network equipment to architect complex DWDM systems
• Create written network implementation design plans (MOPs)
• Hands-on experience with BER Test, Optical Power Meter, OTDR, etc.
• Experience automating network components and management systems
• Knowledge of Coherent technology for long-haul networks

Responsibilities

• Design and architect the company's core network infrastructure to support a global satellite fleet
• Work on layer 1 through layer 3 network design, capacity planning and platform management
• Design routes for fiber-based networks including point-to-point, ring, and path diversity
