Bluebird Fiber is seeking a Network Engineer I to design and deploy core IP networks, ensuring high availability and scalable transport for carriers and enterprises in the Midwest. This full-time, on-site role in Independence Township requires strong IP/MPLS expertise and DWDM familiarity.

The position includes troubleshooting, on-call rotation, and collaboration with Operations, Provisioning, and Security teams. A degree or equivalent experience, plus excellent communication skills, is expected.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in Telecommunications/IP-MPLS-Ethernet environment or equivalent training.
• Experience in transport networks, LAN/WAN data networks, and network management systems.
• Experience with equipment configuration programming.
• College/Technical School degree or equivalent work experience.
• Strong written and oral communications, self-motivated, and customer focused.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy core IP network solutions for scale, cost efficiency, and high availability.
• Plan and oversee change management for peering, transport, and hardware deployments.
• Troubleshoot core network outages and provide escalation support.
• Develop and publish network diagrams and architecture standards.
