Job summary

Viasat is seeking a DWDM Optical Network Engineer to design and architect the company’s core network infrastructure, supporting a growing global satellite fleet. You will work on layer 1 through layer 3 design, capacity planning and platform management, including routing for fiber networks.

This is a site-based role; 60%+ workweek in office, with opportunities to collaborate across multi-vendor teams and cutting-edge telecom environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• 5 years of relevant work experience with multi-vendor network equipment.
• Experience creating implementation design plans (MOPs).
• Hands-on experience with BER Test, Optical Power Meter, OTDR.
• Experience in automating network components and management systems.
• Knowledge of Coherent technology for long-haul networks.

Responsibilities

• Design complex optical networks for a global satellite fleet.
• Architect DWDM systems and fiber routes (point-to-point, ring, path diverse).
• Perform capacity planning and platform management.
• Create network implementation design plans (MOPs).
