Job summary

LanguageLine Solutions LLC is hiring a remote Duala-English phone interpreter. This independent contractor role focuses on real-time interpretation across diverse industries from the comfort of your home in the United States.

You will handle on-demand calls, translating between Duala and English while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy. The position requires Duala and English fluency, strong cultural competency, and the ability to stay neutral on sensitive topics.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Duala and English.
• Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
• Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills for accurate interpretation.
• Ability to stay neutral and objective on sensitive topics and emergencies.
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States with no visa sponsorship required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Post-offer background check and/or drug screen may be required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly in a friendly, professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to interpretation protocols.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and expressions.
• Maintain professionalism throughout sessions at all times.
• Stay calm during sessions, especially in emergencies like 911 calls.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions to meet expectations while respecting LEP.
• Understand protocols for Medical, Insurance, Finance and Law industries.
