Job summary

Cypress Creek Energy, a growing solar development company, seeks a Drone Field Technician to perform thermographic inspections and QA/QC on solar PV facilities. The role is remote with a home base in Durham, NC and requires 50%+ travel to project sites within NC or nationwide.

Responsibilities include on-site drone inspections, data reporting, and collaboration with regional teams. FAA Part 107 certification and OSHA training are encouraged, with supportive safety culture and growth

Qualifications

• 2+ years Solar PV or UAV experience.
• 1+ years in solar PV construction or maintenance (DC ops, AC MV, monitoring, etc.).
• Experience with thermographic inspection equipment and IV curve tracing.
• Proficient in thermography for electrical systems.
• Level 1 ITC Thermography preferred.
• Strong understanding of Solar PV components and diagrams.
• Ability to read single-line and three-line diagrams.
• Thermography software and MS Office proficiency.
• Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel 50%+.
• Willingness to pursue FAA Part 107 certification in 30 days; OSHA 10-hour training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site drone (sUAS) inspections and thermographic evaluations of solar PV facilities.
• Assist in planning and executing daily activities at project sites.
• Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain thorough documentation.
• Keep data organized and upload results promptly to project files.
• Communicate abnormal findings clearly to stakeholders.
