Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division of Motor Vehicles, is seeking a Program Coordinator IV (NS) to oversee private-for-profit driver education schools and instructors in the eastern region. The role enforces state regulations and coordinates auditing, training and compliance activities.

Responsibilities include conducting courses, updating curricula, performing inspections, investigating complaints, and representing the division at conferences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in the program area or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted per guidelines.
• Knowledge of non-commercial driver education laws and regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Basic Driver Education Instructor Courses (online or in person).
• Develop or update course curricula as laws and regulations change.
• Teach the Vision and Medical Screening Course as required by law.
• Conduct annual inspections of existing commercial driver training school locations.
• Perform inspections before new commercial driver training school locations can open.
• Conduct instructor observations required by regulations (in-class and in-car).
• Inspect privatized road-testing organizations as allowed by law.
• Investigate complaints regarding driver education schools and instructors.
• Represent the Division at conferences or meetings regarding driver education activities.
• Represent the Division at conferences or meetings regarding non-commercial driver education activities.
