Job summary

Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in Michigan who are passionate about electric utility design engineering. You will work directly with clients to ensure high-quality work, gain expertise in NESC, structural modeling, GIS design, and field data collection, and contribute to a range of design deliverables.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred).
• Experience working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company.
• Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
• Some knowledge of structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers.
• Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using GIS and WMS systems.
• Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work.
• Design tools such as Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc, DDS.
• Review engineering design packages with clients.
• Perform functional tasks, planning and customer follow-up.
• Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes for efficiency and quality.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and field requirements for large design packages in dense urban environments.
• Be comfortable in both field and office settings with potential customer-site visits.
