Job summary

Leidos in Michigan is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers to perform design engineering for electric utility customers. You will develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using GIS and system tools, while managing scope, schedule, and budget.

You will review engineering design packages with clients, perform planning and client follow-up, and drive continuous improvement in workflows to ensure high-quality results, coordinating complex cable/conduit

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience in electric utility design.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred; additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered.
• Knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and related design standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers.
• Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using GIS and various systems (DDS, GDT, GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, Maximo).
• Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work.
• Design tools and software for distribution design.
• Review engineering design packages with clients.
• Perform planning, and client follow-up.
• Analyze scope and maintain schedule adherence to client priorities.
• Initiate continuous improvement to workflows for efficiency and quality.
• Coordinate with utilities and develop large design packages for complex projects in dense urban environments; work permits and ROW applications.
• Be comfortable in both field and office settings and participate in site visits as needed.
