Job summary

ThisWay Global is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer for a remote role within the United States. The position focuses on building foundational distributed systems and operational infrastructure to support AI and exascale computing environments, with emphasis on Rust-based systems and fault-tolerant design.

As part of the Engineering department, you will design, implement, and optimize distributed components, APIs, and coordination mechanisms while collaborating with leaders across OS

Qualifications

• Experience building distributed systems in high-latency, low-bandwidth environments.
• Production experience in Rust or Go.
• Understanding of failure modes in distributed systems.
• Experience designing APIs and inter-service communication.
• Ability to work autonomously with technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed systems with latency, bandwidth, and intermittent connectivity in mind.
• Implement fault-tolerant communication, backpressure, and caching strategies.
• Write maintainable, robust, and testable code (Rust focus).
• Debug and improve system behavior including networking and coordination issues.
• Collaborate on APIs and communication layers between distributed components.
• Reduce tight coupling across services and diagnose cross-system failures in production.
