Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of America is seeking a Director of State Government Relations to lead strategic planning, day-to-day management, and execution of multi-state advocacy and public policy initiatives. This role supports State Alliances and Government Relations staff to influence policy and secure resources.

You will build relationships with legislators, lead advocacy events, monitor policy developments, and ensure alignment with BGCA's mission while expanding funding and impact nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and day-to-day management for multi-state advocacy and public policy initiatives.
• Provide guidance to up to 11 State Alliances to secure funding and advance legislative priorities.
• Coach and communicate with local Clubs, Alliance Boards, and Area Councils to strengthen advocacy efforts.
• Develop end-to-end advocacy and legislative strategies in partnership with Boards, staff, and lobbyists.
• Build and sustain relationships with legislators, state officials, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Plan and execute high-impact advocacy events, including State Legislative Days and Youth engagements.
• Oversee hiring, contracts, and performance of staff, lobbyists, and consultants across states.
• Monitor policy developments and communicate opportunities to inform advocacy strategies.
• Support public grant and funding management, including proposals, compliance, and reporting.
