Job summary

Karmak is seeking a Director of Software Development to lead a 30+ engineering organization across development, QA, and DB/reporting teams. This role owns release governance, patch decisions, and cross-functional collaboration with Support, Implementation, Product, and DBA to ensure delivery excellence.

The ideal candidate will bring deep .NET/C# and SQL Server expertise, strong leadership of managers, and a track record of AI-assisted development adoption in a fast-paced, high-ownership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years software development experience, incl. 5+ years leading managers or 30+ engineers.
• Strong depth in Microsoft stack: .NET, C#, SQL Server; credible with senior engineers and able to root-cause analysis.
• Experience with Azure cloud and Azure DevOps for pipelines and release management.
• Proven track record in production release and patch decisions; cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to development managers and teams, guiding planning and cross-team coordination.
• Own go/no-go decisions for releases and patches, balancing risk and customer impact.
• Escalation management and incident response across Support, Implementation and Product.
• Direct daily product delivery rhythm with Support, DBA, Installations and Product; lead quality reviews.
• Mentor and develop front-line managers and staff; manage hiring and performance.
• Champion continuous improvement of engineering practices and AI tooling.
