Job summary

SH/FT is seeking a Director of Engineering and Development to lead our engineering practice across platform engineering, web and application development, and custom software development. You will own the people, craft, and output of the team, setting standards and ensuring delivery quality across client engagements.

You will drive pre‑sale scoping, participate in client-facing activities, and guide AI-enabled development strategies while shaping the team structure and career pathways.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or development.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams in a professional services, consulting, or agency environment.
• Track record delivering multiple concurrent client engagements.
• Strong communication skills to lead technical conversations with client stakeholders.
• Experience scoping custom development work and writing statements of work.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools and AI-enabled development.

Responsibilities

• Lead SH/FT’s engineering practice across platform engineering, web and application development, and custom software development.
• Own the quality and integrity of engineering output across client engagements.
• Participate in pre‑sale scoping and client engagements; translate business needs into technical scope.
• Set technical standards and drive AI-enabled development workflows.
• Shape SH/FT’s engineering practice growth and approach.
