PLOS is seeking a senior editorial leader to oversee a subset of journals, including PLOS Biology and PLOS Medicine, guiding editorial strategy and ensuring high-quality, open-science content for a global audience.

You will manage Editors-in-Chief, collaborate with Editorial Boards and internal teams, lead DEI and community initiatives, and drive efficiencies across workflows, all within a fully remote US-based role with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• PhD and post-doctoral experience (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
• 5+ years of editorial experience with increasing managerial responsibility in STM publishing.
• Experience managing multiple journals and international teams.
• Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in science.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsabilités

• Develop editorial strategy for a portfolio of journals.
• Lead cross-journal initiatives and oversee editorial workflows and reporting.
• Mentor and manage Editors-in-Chief; oversee up to 4 direct reports.
• Oversee budget development and resource allocation to meet quality standards.
• Promote Open Science practices and engagement with global communities.
• Represent PLOS at industry events and foster partnerships.
