Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Director of Coding to provide strategic, operational, and regulatory leadership of coding across hospital and physician services. The role partners with HIM, CDI, Compliance, Finance, IT and clinical leadership to ensure compliant coding and optimal reimbursement.

Location is remote with residency in UnityPoint footprint (IA, IL, WI) and some travel. The ideal candidate brings 7–10 years of leadership in hospital coding, strong vendor management, and a track record

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management is required.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC or equivalent coding credential is required.
• 7–10 years of leadership in coding operations.
• 3–5 years direct hospital coding experience.
• Experience with vendor management and coding compliance.

Responsibilities

• Direct all coding activities for hospital inpatient, outpatient, and professional services.
• Monitor and manage DNFB and CFB targets to optimize cash flow.
• Standardize coding workflows across the health system for facility and professional reporting.
• Lead internal coding team and manage vendor relationships; ensure compliance with regulations.
