Job summary

UW Medicine is seeking a Director of Coding & Charge Capture to lead the Coding & Charge Capture Department within UW Medicine. This remote role oversees the department staff, including the Manager, Coding & Charge Capture, Supervisors, and department analysts, guiding performance and strategic execution.

Responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional activities, partnering with internal and external teams, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in business or healthcare.
• 7 years of progressive management in Coding and Charge Capture with ≥2 at a senior level.
• 3 years in Professional Fee coding, preferably in an academic healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and drive performance improvement.
• Experience with a unionized workforce preferred.
• Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and direction for the coding and charge capture department.
• Coordinate operational activities across UW Medicine.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to improve coding and charge capture performance.
• Provide timely, accurate responses to questions from internal and external customers.
• Direct and support Managers of Coding & Charge Capture with daily operations.
• Anticipate factors requiring operational or personnel changes within areas.
• Analyze workflows and staffing to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement changes.
• Participate in senior management goals and tactical plans.
• Advance the organization’s ability to meet strategic initiatives.
