Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Controls to oversee the Automation & Controls team, partnering with engineering to drive continuous innovation and manufacturing optimization. The role influences capital planning and aligns with production facilities’ needs while ensuring safe, reliable operations.

Responsibilities include leading multiple locations, managing budgets, and building cross-functional partnerships across IT, R&D, and operations. Remote, full-time position with travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven leadership and relationship-building skills.
• Working knowledge of CAD; HMI; PLCs; G-Suite; and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Ensure strategic contribution to 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, R&D and others.
• Manage all financial responsibilities of the team: capitalized projects, budget, reporting.
• Lead software identification and deployment with operations systems.
• Guide engineering practices and prevent obsolescence in controls.
• Promote safety excellence and a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
