Job summary

Premise Health is seeking a Director, AI Engineering to define and implement enterprise AI architecture and security across the organization. You will lead AI strategy, cloud-native design, and governance for scalable healthcare AI solutions, partnering with executives to balance innovation with HIPAA-compliant risk management.

The role is full-time and remote, with a strong emphasis on leadership, collaboration, and delivering secure AI platforms that drive business value in a healthcare

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Advanced certifications in enterprise architecture frameworks preferred.
• Cloud architecture certifications preferred (Azure/AWS).
• 10+ years in IT with 7+ years in EA or technical leadership.
• 5+ years in AI/ML architecture including LLMs and RAG.
• 7+ years in healthcare tech with HL7/FHIR and HIPAA/HITECH.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead enterprise AI architecture strategy across the organization.
• Design secure, scalable AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, and AI agents.
• Enforce information security architecture for IAM, API security, and compliance.
• Create reference architectures to accelerate AI development.
• Partner with leaders to align AI investments with strategy.
• Architect cloud-native AI on Azure, AWS and other clouds.
• Design secure API gateway strategies for public and private APIs.
• Establish DevOps/CI-CD practices for AI/ML solutions.
• Lead cross-functional teams including data science, engineering and security.
• Evaluate new AI tech against business value and enterprise standards.
• Develop roadmaps for AI capabilities and automation.
• Architect health-data AI solutions with HL7/FHIR workflows.
• Establish governance for responsible AI and bias mitigation.
• Manage the AI architecture team and perform performance coaching.
• Create architectural docs, proof-of-concepts and pilot projects.
• Lead multi-tenant SaaS patterns and cost allocation.
• Oversee integration patterns and migration from legacy systems.
• Communicate AI architecture principles to leadership.

Education

Master's degree in Computer Science / Engineering / Information Systems
