Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a proactive Fundraising Communications & Enablement Director to lead strategic fundraising communications and engagement initiatives. This fully remote role can be located anywhere in the USA and requires guiding messaging and materials that align with organizational priorities.

You will oversee a team, partner with senior executives, and drive donor-focused storytelling to advance fundraising goals and impact.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral, presentation, and training skills.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop project plans, budgets, and strategic approaches that support organizational objectives.
• Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and develop creative solutions.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of or exposure to fundraising communications, marketing, brand partnerships, or mission-driven campaigns preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop comprehensive communications plans for fundraising initiatives.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of communications professionals.
• Partner with senior executives to ensure consistent and effective messaging across initiatives.
• Utilize storytelling strategies to support and enhance fundraising efforts.
• Collaborate with national and regional marketing teams to develop and execute fundraising communications campaigns.
• Manage complex, large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
• Create and oversee communications content, including talking points, key messages, press releases, social media posts, newsletters, FAQs, product information sheets, and other materials.
• Serve as the lead for external communications and public relations activities.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
• Ensure compliance with communications standards and issues management protocols.
• Develop and manage content for RedCross.org, The Exchange, and Red Cross social platforms.
• Support organizational visibility and fundraising success through strategic communications.
