Job summary

Rain Industries Inc. is seeking a motivated early-career engineer to help build and support internal infrastructure that powers our development and operations. This part-time, year-round contract role offers ownership and exposure to production systems across software, infrastructure, and security.

You’ll work on developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and internal build systems, while helping deploy software for testing and internal use. Remote-first with approximately 5 hours on-site per week.

Qualifications

• Linux systems and basic system administration.
• Networking (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, VPNs) basics.
• Comfort with a command-line environment.
• Interest in infrastructure, automation and security.
• Hands-on experience through home labs or projects.
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Improve and maintain developer tooling and build systems (CI/CD pipelines, build automation, dependency management).
• Package and deploy software for testing and internal use.
• Support internal infrastructure including servers, virtualization and storage.
• Help manage networking and security infrastructure (VPNs, firewalls, routing).
• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and reproducible deployments.
• Assist with endpoint and device management systems.
• Help maintain security posture and support compliance efforts (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC).
• Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day IT issues.
