Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to support complex VA initiatives, including VistA transition and EHR modernization. The role is fully remote within the United States, with core hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET and periodic weekend support during deployments.

The ideal candidate has substantial federal civilian agency experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and is comfortable coordinating across technical SMEs, analysts, and government stakeholders.

Qualifications

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience in agile environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

Support the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of VA initiatives.
Synchronize efforts across SMEs, Data Analysts, and government stakeholders.
Translate strategic direction into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
Monitor scope, schedule, risks, and resources across multiple activities.
Identify challenges and develop practical solutions to delivery issues.
Track team activities and communicate progress to leadership.
Assist with executive briefings, status reports, and project plans.
Facilitate cross-functional reporting and drive action items to closure.
Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Serve as trusted advisor and extend project leadership.
