Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing complex VA initiatives focused on VistA transition and EHR modernization. The ideal candidate has extensive federal civilian project experience and thrives in a dynamic, client-driven environment.

This fully remote role requires strong problem-solving, rapid learning, and collaboration across government stakeholders, contractors, and SMEs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a technical field.
• 15+ years of work experience required.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams in a remote environment.
• Experience in operating in an agile environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in managing day-to-day program execution, priorities, deliverables, and stakeholder commitments.
• Coordinate activities across technical SMEs, Data Analysts, Technical Writers, project teams, government stakeholders, and partner organizations.
• Translate client requirements and strategic direction into actionable plans, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, issues, and resource requirements across multiple concurrent activities.
• Identify emerging requirements, anticipate challenges, and develop practical solutions before they impact delivery.
• Ensure team activities, accomplishments, risks, and emerging work are accurately tracked, documented, maintained, and communicated to leadership.
• Support development of executive briefings, status reports, presentations, project plans, and other program deliverables.
• Facilitate cross-functional reporting and meetings, drive action items to closure, and maintain accountability for commitments.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and apply innovative approaches to program execution.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and extension of project leadership, promoting collaboration, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
