Skyward is seeking a Database Developer to turn raw health data into structured, actionable insights for researchers and CMS partners. You will ingest data sources, build clean database views, and design ETL workflows in Snowflake, ensuring reliability and scalability in a government-focused environment.

You’ll collaborate with analysts, engineers, and CMS stakeholders to align data structures with program goals, apply data quality checks, and support production operations with a focus on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a Database Developer, ideally in government or healthcare.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, ETL development, and Snowflake concepts.
• Exposure to AI or Machine Learning for data quality and anomaly detection.
• Understanding of data management best practices (permissions, recovery, security, monitoring).
• Familiarity with front-end requirements and ability to translate business needs into backend solutions.
• Knowledge of development tools such as the .NET Framework, JavaScript, HTML, and Oracle.
• Proactive problem-solving and strong communication skills.
• Experience working with CMS or federal health data programs and Snowflake.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a team supporting CMS by disseminating data to researchers.
• Ingest new data sources into the CMS Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW).
• Build, optimize, and maintain data views that integrate datasets for analysts.
• Design and support ETL workflows in a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake).
• Support production operations, including rotation-based ETL loads.
• Document processes and business logic for audits and onboarding.
• Collaborate with analysts, leads, and CMS partners to align data structures.
• Identify and resolve database or performance issues to improve data systems.
