Job summary

Skyward seeks a Senior Database Developer in Maryland to lead data architecture, develop data warehouses, and craft secure data pipelines for federal clients. You will own data governance, access controls, and reporting while guiding a team of analysts and interfacing with government stakeholders.

You should bring 8+ years of experience, strong SQL, AWS familiarity, and a passion for clean data and solid documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience.
• Serious database chops: architecture, development, and administration, not just "I know how to write a SELECT statement."
• Strong SQL skills. You write queries that are clean, fast, and a little bit beautiful: joins, CTEs, window functions, performance tuning, the works.
• Experience with data governance, access control, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Be the human Rosetta Stone between raw data and insight; design a data management framework.
• Build a central data repository with strong security.
• Clean and validate data; prevent duplicates.
• Set up access controls; enforce least privilege for data.
• Create backup and disaster recovery plans; ensure data resilience.
• Automate data collection, transformation, and reporting pipelines.
• Maintain a living data dictionary and naming standards.
• Be the main contact for the government Contracting Officer and COR.
• Monitor contract activities and oversee analysts workstreams.
• Respond within 24 hours to inquiries; maintain reliability.
