Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate security controls across the enterprise data estate, including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, SQL Server, and the pipelines and integrations that move data between them.

You will work hands-on in encryption, key management, access controls, and secure data pipelines, reporting to the Deputy CISO and collaborating with IT teams.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing data protection controls across large data estates.
• Strong knowledge of encryption, key management, and access controls.
• Experience with RBAC/ABAC and least-privilege models.
• Familiarity with DevOps, IaC, and platform APIs.

Responsibilities

• Implements data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configures encryption for data at rest and in transit and manages keys.
• Implements least-privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for Fabric, Databricks, and Azure SQL.
• Embeds security controls into data ingestion and ETL workflows.
• Automates control deployment and compliance validation using IaC.
• Documents guides, runbooks, and supports data solution teams.
• Maintains strong collaboration with Security Operations and IT teams.
