Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University seeks a Data Security Engineer to implement, operate, and improve security controls protecting institutional data across the enterprise data estate, including analytics platforms like Microsoft Fabric and Databricks, and relational databases such as Azure SQL and SQL Server.

You will collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams, reporting to the Deputy CISO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field, including 2+ years in data protection.
• Professional certifications are not required.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Operate encryption and key management for data at rest and in transit, including CMK and key rotation.
• Implement least-privilege access models and conduct entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for cloud and data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, SQL Server).
