Job summary

Workiva is seeking a Data Operations Lead in the United States to ensure reliability and scalability of our analytics platform. You will guide an offshore contractor team and enable data engineers to move fast with confidence.

You will own SLOs/SLIs, craft observability, and drive automation and IaC while coordinating governance and security to maintain data quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years in SRE/DevOps/Data infrastructure, leading technical projects or teams.
• Ability to provide clear technical leadership to cross-functional or offshore teams.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Hands-on with Snowflake and DBT; expert in Snowflake SQL.
• Monitoring and automation with Terraform, Splunk, and Airflow or similar tech.
• Proficiency in Python and languages like Java/Go/Scala.
• Experience with ingestion frameworks like Fivetran, CData, Census, Openflow.
• Data Lakes: experience with S3, Athena, Iceberg.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to offshore contract team for platform operations and reliability projects.
• Own operational health, define SLIs/SLOs, and scale systems through automation.
• Lead incident management and post-mortems to drive systemic improvements.
• Design and implement monitoring frameworks for SOA, with robust alerting.
• Build self-service workflows and IaC to reduce operational toil.
• Orchestrate data tasks with Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect for complex dependencies.
• Ensure RBAC, data quality, and compliance with regulations.
• Capacitate cloud budgeting for Snowflake/BigQuery/Databricks; align with business goals.
• Offer operational support to data engineering and product teams.
