Job summary

Workiva is seeking a Staff Data and AI Platform Engineer to own the Enterprise data platform, driving design, reliability, security and cost efficiency of account-level infrastructure while enabling domain teams to scale dbt Mesh projects safely.

You will set technical direction, translate ambiguous challenges into clear standards, and raise the engineering bar across data and analytics. Remote-friendly role with cross-functional collaboration across the Data & Analytics function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years in data or platform engineering with enterprise-scale Snowflake ops.
• Demonstrated architectural judgment balancing standardization, autonomy, cost, security, and buy/build/adopt decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year data platform architecture vision and roadmap; present tradeoffs to leadership.
• Serve as technical decision-maker for platform-wide architectural choices and cross-domain standards.
• Evaluate and pilot emerging data platform technologies; run POCs and develop architectural recommendations.
• Drive alignment across Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, AI/ML Platform, Security, and Data Ops; mentor engineers.
