Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Data Engineer to design and maintain data pipelines in SparkSQL/PySpark within a central data lake. You’ll ingest data from IoT devices and software into a core data model to enable analytics, modeling, and dashboards. This is a remote role for candidates in the United States, with relocation not provided.

You’ll work with Data Science, Analytics, and other Engineers to ensure high-quality, reliable data while upholding Samsara’s customer-centric culture and long-term focus.

Qualifications

• BA / MS in CS, statistics, or related field.
• 4+ years in a data engineering-focused role.
• Experience designing data models at scale.
• Proficiency building ETL pipelines for large data volumes.
• Experience with Spark-based data platforms.
• Strong SQL, Python, and REST API skills.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
• Experience with data orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain highly reliable computed tables from diverse sources.
• Access, manipulate, and integrate external datasets with internal data.
• Deliver high-quality data with uptime and reliability for customer datasets.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, AI/ML, and other Data Engineers on data for modeling and dashboards.
• Champion Samsara cultural principles and scalable data practices.
