Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Data Platform team, owning the core analytic platform that powers our data lake, distributed compute, and lakehouse systems. You will design, build, and operate reliable, scalable data infrastructure for petabytes of data and support engineers, data scientists, analysts and product teams with feature delivery and operational insights.

This is a remote position open to candidates in the US.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering in production environments.
• 4+ years of building or maintaining large-scale production data infrastructure or data platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one production language: Go, Python, Scala or Java.
• Strong experience with Apache Spark or similar distributed data processing systems.
• Experience operating production infrastructure in AWS (S3, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-scale data ingestion and replication systems into the data lakehouse.
• Develop reliable, scalable, and secure data platform infrastructure for analytics, AI, and product use cases.
• Improve reliability, observability, and security of Spark/Databricks-based data processing.
• Create internal libraries and tooling in Go and Python to move, process, and access data safely.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, data science, analytics, security, and product teams to deliver durable solutions.
