Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Data team in a remote US role. You will design and maintain data pipelines using SparkSQL and Pyspark to ingest, transform, and load data from IoT devices and software products into the core data model for analytics and model training.

You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, and other Engineers, ensuring high data quality, reliability, and availability for dashboards and causal inference work. Relocation is not provided.

Qualifications

• BA / MS in Computer Science, Statistics, or related discipline.
• 4+ years in a data engineering-focused role.
• Experience designing data models at scale.
• Proficiency building ETL pipelines for large data volumes.
• Experience with Spark-based data platforms.
• Strong command of SQL, Python, and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with software engineering fundamentals and version control.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain highly reliable computed tables from diverse sources including unstructured data.
• Access, manipulate, and integrate external datasets with internal data.
• Deliver high-quality data with uptime and reliability for customer-facing datasets.
• Collaborate with Data Science, AI/ML, and other Data Engineers to ensure data quality for analytics.
• Champion Samsara’s cultural principles while scaling globally.
